Sydney - Day 2

The Day has arrived. The wedding was the whole reason we're in Sydney in the first place. We got up bright and early to get ready to go to the church. It was a sunny day, perfect weather for a wedding! Cousin Eugene drove over to pick us up from the inn about 9am and soon we were on our way to the church (St. Joseph's).

It was my first time meeting Su (the bride) as i've never met her on any of her trips to Muar.

The church was beautiful inside and out. The pictures speak for themselves. It's spring, so the flowers outside have bloomed, just in time.

The ceremony was short and sweet. Everyone hung around for photo sessions outside and then slowly the whole wedding group started to make way to the lunch venue, the Sydney Opera House!

Waiting outside

We lingered outside the tent, eating finger food and drinking. After about an hour, we all went in to sit at our respective tables. The table settings were nice too.

The wedding cake was unique (and delicious!). Never came across before, heard that it's the 'in' thing now.

After that i was too busy eating and listening to the MCs to take any pictures of the food. The whole event ended in the evening. There was a beautiful sunset outside.

The youngsters then adjourned to the Argyle bar at the Rocks, while the older ones went for coffee. The night ended with a visit to the bridal suite at the Shangri-La, to wait for Eugene to pick us up (We basically gate crash their wedding night).

Sydney Day 1

Alright, it's been almost a month since i went to Sydney, i better start blogging about it!

Me, my parents, Ben & Vicky took the SIA plane from Singapore Airport. Me and my parents took a taxi from Muar and reached the airport quite early (bout 6pm, couldn't get a later taxi). We sat and walked around while we waited for Ben and Vicky to join us. Caught the midnight plane (was delayed for an hour) from Singapore to Sydney (about 8 hours flight).

I couldn't really sleep on the plane, kept waking up. The service on the plane was good, served us supper and breakfast with lotsa drinks in between. Each seat has their own screen to watch movies or play games. There were a lot of movies to choose from, and you can even fast forward and rewind the movies (about time they implemented this!).

We reached Sydney about 11am local time. Was quite a bother going through the customs, who were very particular about food, meds and even your shoes! We brought some Mooncakes, and it had to be scanned twice, to make sure there weren't any eggs or forbidden food inside the mooncakes. Meanwhile Ben and Vicky (who got off without being checked!) went off to get some Krispy Kreme doughnuts!

After we got out, we waited a while for Uncle Daniel who arrived shortly. We all huddled into the car he rented and made our journey to Wahroonga (not before a pit stop to snap some pics of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House). The weather was good, very sunny and the air was cool.

We had a quick lunch at my Uncle's place and then Me, Ben and Vicky went to check-in at the Inn we were going to stay for the next week. The three of us had a short nap before dinner.

Dinner was Chinese food at the Mandarin Centre. Food here is quite expensive but the portions are big. I got a plate of rice and pork chops for $8. We went back to our inn after dinner and turn in early for we had a wedding to attend the next day!

Pretty flowers

I haven't got around to start blogging about my trip to Sydney, though my brother has. Will be going up to Genting this weekend, so will probably start blogging next week.

Here are some random pics i took with my trusty (ok, so it's not mine) Canon A430.

My favourite picture. Lovely Gerbera Daisies

Here are some lovely cherry blossoms (or was it plum blossoms?) taken near my Uncle's house.

That's all for now. Have a great weekend, folks!

BBQ Plaza

If you go to 1Utama, you'll notice that on the screens (there are many screens hanging from the ceiling at the new wing) showing the advert for BBQ Plaza. I went to try it out, about a month ago.

They even have instructions on how to BBQ your food!

The grill

Their famous sauce!

Using lard to grease up the grill

Mixed platter for 2

Garlic fried rice (recommended!!)

Happy BBQ-ing

The food is good and i would sure go there again!

Donuts!

I'm not a big fan of donuts, but i do like to try them. I managed to finally get my hands on some Big Apple Donuts & Coffee at The Curve. (New branch opening at 1Utama, same row as Waffle World/A&W). Why am i helping them to promote? Tsk, tsk...

I went there quite late and only managed to see a few flavours left. So i grab the ones that looked yummy. Had quite a long queue outside the store. A box of 6 donuts for RM9.50.

From the top left-right: Nutty choc, cocoa puff, choreo, almond, peanut butter and chococino (names might be wrong)

I like the nutty one. The donuts are smaller and less heavy (in eating terms) compared to Dunkin Donuts. So you won't get stuffed after eating one. Next up, i wanna try J.Co donuts!
