Marriage Proposal

Nowadays we see all sorts of different marriage proposals. From underwater to the sky above. This year we saw the billboard proposal and if i'm not mistaken, last year was the one with the extremely huge bouquet of flowers. Even my cousin proposed to his girlfriend, while underwater scuba diving in Bali.

Today, i saw a whole new one right before my eyes. It was a normal Tuesday, still in the long weekend mood. I drove to work, parked my car. I noticed there was a crew of people taking a video of some kind at an empty land nearby (the area is higher than my carpark, so i couldn't see what they were doing). So i took no more notice, and went up to my office. I was happily sipping my coffee when suddenly my colleagues were making a big fuss over something and were staring out the window.

Lo and behold! I saw a hot-air balloon, getting ready for it's voyage.

Picture taken by me

We later saw that the hot-air balloon hovered above the ground for a while and then came back down to land. The guy rushed over (did i mention that the girl was my colleague?) with a bouquet of flowers to get his bride. This is no doubt one of the most extravagant marriage proposals i've seen. This will definitely be in the papers tomorrow.

Have any of you seen something of this big scale before or would you want it happen to you?

Somewhere over the Rainbow

Many of you might have seen this on Monday evening. I saw it on my way home from work. While i tried to take a picture of it from my car, *ahem*, i thought i would have a better view from my home. So once i reached home, i quickly went to the balcony, and behold! I saw the full rainbow.

I tried to capture the whole rainbow, but it was just too huge. So i had to take half and half.

From one end...

.....to another

If you enlarge the last picture and squint your eyes a lil', you can see KLCC and KL Tower. Ever wonder what's at the end of a rainbow?

Banana Leaf Rice

At last it's Friday! Good day to blog about the banana leaf rice (while typing the title i mistyped as 'leave', must be my brain asking me to leave office) i had during the Raya hols. This particular restaurant is at SS3 Pj, called Sri Devi's if i'm not mistaken. I've not had banana leave rice for years already. The last time, my dad brought us to one in our hometown when i was still in primary school. I still remember where it is, but not sure if it's still there at the same place.

We sat down at the table, and the leaves were immediately placed in front of us. Next we were given plain rice with 3 small side dishes (usually veggie based) and papadums. That's usually the base when eating banana leaf rice. We were asked what type of gravy/curry we wanted and were given a generous serving.

The basic. I wanted less curry, i don't really like too much gravy on my rice

As dishes to go with the rice, we ordered fried chicken and fried squid. The chicken and squid were pre-marinated, so they were straight away fried when someone orders.

Fried chicken, chopped into smaller pieces

Fried squid

My favourite was the fried squid. The squid it self was nice and er...bouncy? Usually it's quite rubbery, hence difficult to chew. But this one was just nice.
