Sailing on the Wasa Queen

This post is 2 weeks overdue! Been busy lately.....wait, i'm busy all the time. *Sigh*

So 2 weekends ago, i went on a 1 day cruise on the Wasa Queen! Previously this was Star Cruise, but now sold to some other company. So, it's not as grand as Star Cruise.

Upon reaching at the terminal at 5pm, we had to register. When you register, they would take away your identification cards (I.C) and give u some sort of like their own identification card. The card is for you to open your room door and for you to purchase the items on board (which you pay when you leave the ship).

Had out bags checked and boarded the ship. The rooms are smaller and we have to sleep on bunk beds.

Reminder not to smoke in bed....meaning other places can?

Here are some pictures from the inside of the ship.

The place where we eat dinner, supper and breakfast. Cafeteria style.

Er...where is this?

Here's some pictures taken outside.

What's a winch?

Erm, i wanted to take a pic of the lifeboat ONLY, actually

Just in case!

Nice scenery

At 7.30pm sharp, the ship started moving away from the port. Sailing out into international waters so that the casinos can start their business. Oh did i mention that the only entertainment is gambling and some performances. Found out later that some people don't even book a room, they pay for standing pax only as their main purpose is to gamble. The casinos are open from 9.0pm - 6.30 am. So almost everyone u see got a 'gambler's' look.

So what i did on board the whole time was eat, gamble, eat, sleep, eat...all in that order. The ship got back to the port at 8am the next morning. So everyone bundled off after breakfast.

Ipoh Food Trip!

Another food trip! Destination is Ipoh this time. This can be considered as my first visit there (the last time i went was many years ago, a stop over on the way back from Penang).

Started off at 6.00am on 21st July, from home, to meet up with the others. The 4 of us pushed off around 6.30am. Not much happenings on the way there, just that it was very foggy along the way.

We reached Ipoh approximately around 9am and went straight for dim sum! Actually 9am for breakfast is already late in Ipoh terms.

The employees kept pushing dim sum at us, and the trick is to firmly reject them before they pile up all the food on your table! The dim sums here are small and cute!

Visiting Ipoh wouldn't be complete without drinking Ipoh White Coffee!!

Next up, tou foo far! Very smooooth. I'm not a big fan though...

After all that eating, we went to a park called 'DR Park'. Don't ask me what's the full name, cause i can't remember!

Here fishy, fishy...

There was a Japanese section at the park.

After monkey-ing around, we continued with our food tour. We drove all the way to Menglembu for Chee Cheong Fun.

The normal sweet sauce

One with wild boar curry

One with pig skin curry

We went to visit a cave next, 'Kek Look Tong'. There's always a nice breeze inside the cave, so it's refreshing since the weather is oh so hot!

Enjoying the breeze

A park behind the cave

Some weird stone

Ladybird!

Went to a temple after that, 'Ling Sen Tong', which was just nearby. There were many statues inside.

Wanted to go to the next temple which was 'Sam Poh Tong' but it was closed already! So what to do? Continue eating of course!

Fish Paste noodle!

It was already evening, we headed off to Kinta City. I realised there that the 'major' bookstores were not selling Harry Potter!! A real bummer! Didn't stay at the mall long. Went off for dinner after that. Yeah, we're still eating!

Of course our last meal there had to be Chicken rice!! A must eat in Ipoh.

Was about 8.30pm when we all headed home. Reached home about 10.30pm, all stuffed and tired after a whole day in Ipoh.

The final book - Harry Potter

Oh yes, got my hands on the much awaited Harry Potter book finally! Got it at 'The Big Book Store' at Atria, Damansara Jaya yesterday. I wanted the children's cover one (since all my others are the children's cover), but they sold out already. I got one of the last 2 books! I didn't realise the four 'major' bookstores were boycotting it until i was at MPH, Kinta City, Ipoh on Saturday (more about my trip in the next post). Frankly, i think people would buy even at any price it's sold. Now i'm torn whether to read as much as i could to know what happen or to take my time reading it (since it's the last book and all).

Random pics

Here are some random pictures i downloaded from my phone:

First up, Joshua Low. Looking more mischievous and cheeky with his new haircut.

I saw this shop while waiting at a traffic light to change in KL, on the way to Times Square (same road as Pudu). What caught my eye first was the shop name, and then i saw the line below. 'Bamboo and Wooden chicks'!!!! *Snicker*

I went out to get ice-cream on 31st May at Baskin Robbins. It came packed with dry ice. So had a little fun with it. Put in in a cup full of water.

Was in KL again, near DSH hospital. Stumbled upon this dodgy clinic. The picture explains it all.

Melaka Food Trip!

Last weekend, me and a few friends went down to Melaka. The trip was mainly to look for the good food there and also to pick a friend up from MMU. (Sorry Yin, no time to drop by!). We moved off at 9 am and reached Melaka around 11am.

Our first stop was to eat the famous Taiwan noodles (Beef noodles). I forgot where is was, but it was nice. While we were eating, we noticed a sign in the restaurant. It says there's another branch in Damansara Uptown, PJ. Very near to where i'm staying now. We came so far only to find out there's another branch nearer -_-''

Next up, we went to eat some pork satay near Sri Costa hotel. It's my first time eating pork satay. Was good! Something different. After that we went to the new shopping mall, Dataran Pahlawan. The whole place is just 1 level spread out. Nothing much to see, so we went to Mahkota Parade which is just opposite.

Later that evening, we headed out for some seafood. Heard that the nice ones were at Umbai and Sg. Duyong. We went to Crystal Bay, you can't miss the big sign by the road. It's a place i always pass by on the way to Melaka/Muar. And i always thought that place was some kind of resort or something. Here are the dishes we ordered.

Lala

Ikan Pari

Fried Sotong

Some-fish-that-i-don't-know-the-name

No rice served, only Nasi Lemak

The place we ate

The dishes were yummy. It costs about RM65 for the food and drinks for the 4 of us (the receipt said RM69 but they charged RM65, no idea why). There were more restaurants deeper in, but we came straight to the first one we saw.

After dinner, we headed back into town, our destination: Jonker Street. It's been a while since i've been there, about 4 years already!! We walked for a bit, looking at the merchandises and stopping for some snacks (ate durian cendol and nonya laksa). Stopped by at Geographer's for a drink. Was a very hot and humid night in Melaka, so a cold beer was most definitely welcomed. (after a few sips of beer, i turn to my usual shade of red).

Before leaving we watched the famous man who pokes his 2 fingers into the coconut. Very dramatic indeed! Took ages for him to perform, he was talking and talking nonstop, promising to start his act soon but continued talking.

Rite, so after conquering Jonker's, it's time for supper! Went to a shop near Jonker's that only opens at 12.00am. selling 'Char Siew/Siew Yuk' rice. They put curry onto the rice. It's nice, but i've found a nicer one in Aman Suria, PJ. Haven't found 'char siew' better than that one yet.

I only managed to eat a few scoops. Was too stuffed from other snacks.

The night didn't end there. We all went off for more drinks after that. Let's just leave it at that. :D Well, that's all on the food trip. An overstuffed weekend in Melaka. Note to self (and all out there), do not drink alcoholic + carbonated drinks together.
